Himalayan Hermitage was, when established, motivated by much love for the Himalayan Region. For more than 10 years Sisse Budolfsen has orchestrated guided tours around the Himalayan region, specifically the Kathmandu, Nepal-region, and orchestrated groups tours in the Himalayan Region – now in collaboration with her Canadian partner Alex D’Artois.

What makes Himalayan Hermitage’s pilgrimages to Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan so unique is the opportunity to experience the spiritual cultural legacy that dwells in these remote regions. Combined with hikes in the most pristine landscapes the Himalayas offer, we visit monasteries, temples and even caves where yogis have practiced meditation for Millennia.

It’s nothing less than an epic Voyage into the authentic Himalayan Buddhist Culture where we acquaint ourselves with meditation and Tibetan Buddhist philosophy.

The teachers / Guides
For the most part Sisse and Alex will be your “local” guides on the pilgrimages. With a strong foundational knowledge and acquaintance with both the Nepalese and Tibetan language coupled with a strong background in studies of Buddhist philosophy from a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Kathmandu – they offer a unique insight into the culture as well as the Himalayan regions.

It’s Refreshing to experience alternative ways of living that do not equate material goals, but are characterised, to a greater extent, by presence and being present in ones life. We often hear from our travel participants that they bring this form of presence home with them. On the pilgrimages we introduce daily meditation practices. This enables us to acquaint ourselves with the mind and learn a daily practice that we can bring home and apply in our daily lives.
